The story of the Taga Clamba Ka Kung Association began from a Facebook group page curiously created by Noemi Erasga Talatala on August 23, 2011.  The group page’s title, Taga Calamba Ka Kung is a starter of a teaser post which challenges the reader to prove if they really are from Calamba.  Literally, Taga Calamba Ka Kung means “If you are from Calamba, then…”   The poser asks traditional folk knowledge, delicacies, common places, popular personalities of a certain period, landmarks and so on typical of Calamba, which one who is only from Calamba or a long time resident would know. The Facebook group page though “Closed” encourages members to add new members. In a short period of time members added thousands of new members.  Hundreds even coming from the United States, England, Italy, United Arab Emirates and bordering countries, Australia, Japan, Hong Kong and South East Asia.

Months after its beginnings, a meeting, which sole purpose is only for members to meet another occurred.  During the meeting, concerns regarding the group’s organizational future, which rely mainly on Facebook cropped up. A proposal to make the group into a formal organization was tabled. This led to a brief discussion and the division of the house where the majority of  the members opted to make the group a formal organization with its own constitution and bylaws.

Prior to the preparation of the Constitution and Bylaws, the body decided to elect interim officers where the following were elected: President, Gilbert Miranda; Vice President, Virgilio “Boy” Lazaga; Secretary, Noemi Erasga Talatala; Treasurer Susan Barairo Rizal; Public Information Officer, Ogie Rogelio Alviar; and Auditor Leizel Robles  Three months later on November 14, 2011, the interim officers met at Starbucks in SM to discuss the draft of the Constitution and bylaws and finally on January 28th of the following year, the draft was presented in a General Assembly where it was ratified.

As of the latest count, the membership of Taga Calamba Ka Kung Association  numbers to 4,796.
