Pre-Spanish Calambeños
Pre-Spanish settlers of Calamba were believed to have stayed in the present day Barangay Sucol, about 6 kilometers south of the present day city proper.
Although the village had been in existence since around 1611 when its inhabitants built their own independent parish church, it was formally recognized only in 1770.
In the early 1800s, the whole village was converted into a hacienda by the Jesuit friars until the historic expulsion of the Jesuits in the Philippines, when the King of Spain sold the property to the Dominican Order. .
During the American regime, the hacienda was divided into portions and were sold by the Dominican friars to the inhabitants in affordable installments.
